5 days on a City Break Dubrovnik – the Pearl of Adriatic and Mediterranean. This is the tour that tourists simply adore and rightly so.

The whole Dubrovnik region is well-known for its fascinating landscapes, abundant Mediterranean vegetation, mild climate and interesting smaller settlements. In former times, it became part of the Dubrovnik Republic territory, becoming connected with the city via historical, economic and trade route ties.

In tourism, it is now called the Dubrovnik Riviera. Visiting Dubrovnik is not a complete pleasure without seeing at least a part of its surroundings: the good land and sea connections offer the possibility of organizing either shorter or longer excursions.

Day 2

Dubrovnik City Break

Breakfast. First things first, today we are going to explore this amazing city with our local guide. We are going on a City Break Dubrovnik walking tour.

Did you know that the oldest document on maritime law in the world as well as and the oldest European law on maritime insurance were created in the Republic of Dubrovnik. Here you can also find the oldest European pharmacy that is constantly used for pharmaceutical purposes! Dubrovnik still exudes that old-world charm, with its location on the magnificent turquoise Adriatic, the fine stone palaces surrounded by heavily fortified walls, and the multitude of red-tiled roofs.

The bombing of Dubrovnik by Serb troops in the 90s shocked the world. Fortunately, over the last 20 years, great care has been taken to re-build the damaged parts of the city and Dubrovnik has now returned to its former beauty. The stone streets of the Old town, or Stari Grad, feature fountains, churches, palaces, and museums – all built from the same light-colored stone. Motor vehicles are not allowed in the city but at night the streets come alive when locals and tourists take an early evening stroll along the Stradun – or Placa how it’s called by Dubrovnik people, – 300 meters of pure history and as many say most beautiful street in Croatia with it’s shiny almost glass-like reflecting stone.

After the sightseeing tour, the afternoon is at leisure to explore the city on your own. City monumental walls are almost two kilometers long and definitely worth visiting if you want to admire the beautiful view of city rooftops, the old port, and nearby islands. For more spectacular views you can take the cable car up to Srdj Hill behind Dubrovnik for spectacular views of the city and the Dalmatian coastline. Or to take a Game of Thrones tour. Dubrovnik was the main filming location in Croatia for King’s Landing, a fictional city in Game of Thrones, the famous television series distributed by HBO. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 3

Dubrovnik - excursion to Cavtat and Konavle

Breakfast.  We continue our 5 days tour on a Dubrovnik City Break. Today we are going to explore  Konavle valley and the beautiful Dubrovnik countryside.  Konavle valley is a perfect alternative if you want to avoid the summer crowds in Dubrovnik and to discover Dubrovnik’s golden valley countryside, as it’s often called this area.  The tour starts with a visit to  Cavtat, the southernmost Croatian resort of all, located around 20 km south of Dubrovnik and only 22 km from the border with Montenegro.

Cavtat has been selected as one of the most impressive small towns in Croatia numerous times. Its two churches and 1,5 km footpath located on the seafront are breathtaking. Konavle Valley is a must-visit destination for lovers of nature and foodies. It offers peaceful surroundings, breathtaking scenery, and excellent restaurants serving extraordinary local wines. Here are some of the activities that can be organized:

  • Ćilipi village multicolor folk dance
  • Cycling and wine-tasting tour
  • Horse-back riding and quad bike safari Popovici with Kojan Coral
  • Wine tasting  with a train ride

Of course, each of the tours can end with organized lunch, where you can try some local specialties such as a ”Peka”. Where is food there is always a good wine as well? Taste the best Croatian wines from the Konavle region and enjoy traditional homemade specialties.

Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 4

Dubrovnik excursion day or leisure day

Breakfast. Today we suggest a day trip to the Pelješac peninsula, the second largest peninsula in Croatia and a landmass crammed with history, culture, and plenty of wine and food.

First Stop is the bay-side town of Ston, famous for its town walls, the salt-works, and oysters. Take a one-hour boat cruise, discovering the traditional domestic sea shell farming with oyster and mussel tasting.

Visit Saltworks, established as far back as the 13th century. the production of salt contributed to the wealth of the Republic of Dubrovnik.

You can walk up the magnificent old walls which overlook the town – the view from the top is fantastic! This is perhaps what this little town is best known for – and rightfully so. The walls are much longer than those of its more famous neighbor, Dubrovnik, at 5km in length. This makes them the longest defensive structure in Europe; they are sometimes referred to as the “European Walls of China”.

Later we can visit a local winery and taste the famous “Plavac Mali” wine, the primary red wine grape grown along the Dalmatian coast. In this winery the traditional winemaking business has been passed on for generations, offering a unique story everyone wants to hear. The wine tasting includes a wine presentation on all the specifics of the wine-making process, wine tasting, and snacks.

Transfer to hotel. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
